Rob Skrlac was born June 10, 1976 in Port McNeill, British Columbia.  The ninth round,  224th overall selection of the Buffalo Sabres in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Skrlac is a graduate of the WHLs Kamloops Blazers.

A hulking forward, Skrlac who is listed at 65 and 245 lbs. played three seasons in Kamloops racking up over 650 minutes in penalties before making his professional debut in 1997-98.  After the Sabres were unable to sign the Port McNeill, B.C. native to a contract, he signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils in the summer of 1997.  Upon signing with the Devils, Skrlac spent the better part of the next seven seasons with the teams AHL affiliate in Albany with brief stints with the AHLs Portland Pirates and the ECHLs Mississippi Sea Wolves.

After spending the previous seven seasons riding the buses in the AHL and ECHL, Skrlac went on to make his NHL debut with the Devils during the 2003-04 season.  Although he spent the majority of the season in Albany the hard-nosed winger went on to play eight games with the Devils that season.
