BIOGRAPHY

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Brown played midget with the local Legion then joined the Wellington Dukes of the MTHL. He then played nearly three full seasons in the OHL with the Belleville Bulls and the Sarnia Sting. A top prospect, Brown was chosen 21st overall by the Boston Bruins in 1995. He was returned to junior and was a dominant force while earning a place on the OHL's Second All-Star team.

The young backliner joined the Edmonton Oilers in a trade halfway through the 1995-96 season. He spent two years in the AHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs and was recalled occasionally by the parent club. Playing a simple and hard-hitting game, Brown impressed while suiting up for 51 games in 1998-99. Over the next two seasons he continued to show more confidence while the Edmonton brass looked for him to contribute even more to club's success in 2001-02.

Brown would play the better part of the 2001-02 season in Edmonton before he was dealt back to Boston towards the end of the regular season.  After two seasons in Boston, the hard-nosed defenceman was acquired by the New Jersey Devils in the summer of 2003.  Upon his arrival with the Devils, Brown went on to split his time between New Jersey and their AHL affiliate in Albany, before being dealt to the Vancouver Canucks at 2006 NHL trading deadline.
