BIOGRAPHY

Bill played his junior hockey in Calgary with the Spurs. While playing with the Spurs he was also working as an Assistant Pro and pursuing a career in golf having become a member of the CPGA in 1982. In 1988 while an Assistant Pro at the Canyon Meadows G & CC, and after a successful run with The Bassano Hawks representing Alberta and Western Canada in the 1988 Allan Cup, Bill was invited to the Calgary Flames training camp.

Bill has now been a Golf Pro and CPGA member for 30 years, having been the Head Pro at Silver Springs and Turner Valley as well as an assistant at Canyon Meadows and Glencoe. 10 assistant pros who worked under Bill have gone on to become head professionals as well Wes Heffernan one of Canada’s top touring professionals was a product of the Silver Springs Junior program and worked with Bill, other students and juniors from Silver Springs during Bill’s 13 years there also combined for 3 National Championships as well as numerous City and Provincial Champions. Bill still does limited teaching at the Golf Canada Center and is a sales rep with Callaway Golf.

Born and raised in Calgary, he considers it an honor and a privilege
to be a part of the Calgary Flames Alumni and to help in the community.
Bill has played in many Alumni events over the years and was the
goaltender on the winning team in the 2006 Esso 3 on 3 pond hockey event.

Bill also continues to be involved with minor hockey as a volunteer and coach.
